Christianity versus Science

As time has come to pass and more "radical" theories for things have come up, science has become the "Devil's Magic" or some other enemy of Christianity. People believe that if the bible does not say it directly or there is a minor difference it cannot be. I recently heard the argument that, "The bible does not say there was a big bang exactly, so it cannot be." , this argument was crazy in my mind but I kept to myself. I'm pretty sure there are actually some people that still think the universe is geocentric and that we are rotated by the sun.

The thing people fail to realize is that Moses did not understand the rotation of the earth. He didn't understand the complex process of expansion. He didn't understand things and did not write what others could not understand. He was writing stories he was told in an understandable way. Genesis needed to be easy.

Another thing that blows my mind is people's nonacceptance of evolution. Even the most devout atheist could say one could arbitrarily select any point in the bible and add evolution. It's not that difficult. God made all animals on the sixth day. It was not the day we consider a day now but a, for lack of a better term, "god day". It was the eons upon eons that it took for the modern human to come about.

The final second to last thing in this rant is people's attempt to understand parts of science to refute other things. I'm not very articulate with what I'm try say but people try to say that evolution is just a theory. They lack the understanding that a theory is an explanation for observations. Of course you can easily be a creationist and say it's an explanation for observations but that's dumb. Think of all the evidence for it.

Lastly, there is overwhelming evidence. There is nothing wrong with faith but refuting evidence and logical conclusions an eight year old can make is terrible. We see bones in the ground. They look sort of like humans. They must have been our ancestors or something. This thinking is not crazy. It makes perfect sense. Adding that to the fact that there is so much evidence, things like this are completely dumb.

As I believe Richard Dawkins said, "Science is opening your eyes to the poetry of the expanding universe.". He didn't say science was the Devil's tools. He didn't say anything remotely close. Science is something that can easily compliment religion in general and should never be seen as an enemy.

The No True Scotsman Fallacy

The No True Scotsman fallacy is a friend for all of us [sarcasm]. It allows everyone to be included. Even though there is a saying that "All Scotsmen eat Haggis" Your dad is still a Scotsman because he is Scottish.

The thing is this law has a deadly repercussion. Anyone who is in the  same group/title of people of you is still considered one of you.

One argument Christians use is that atheist have no moral compass- history has been shown that through Mao, Stalin, etc (This argument is dumb but well known).  This can easily be reversed to about anyone. For example, religious people cause wars because of the crusades and other things of the like. Your response to either of those situations can't be, "They weren't real..." because of the no true Scotsman fallacy.

As a Christian I like to know what other people of different minds think. My first day as a user on Reddit. I posted "I'm a Christian. Debate me." on r/atheism. That's when I met the no true Scotsman fallacy.

What I recently realized is that many people have different interpretation to words. For example the phrase "good person" can be defined many ways. Some could say that a good person is someone who does things for others and is kind. Others could say you are only a good person with Jesus. Standards and other variables affect someone's interpretation of a loose term. A triangle has the set definition of a three sided polygon but what does it mean to be "nice". Do you mean cool, or something deeper.

It's like those things when people say "You're not a chef until you've cooked...". Most people don't take these sayings literally but (I use christianity because of my knowledge of it) what does it mean to be a Christian?

I break down the word to get the definition. Christian- Christ like. It's quite simple really. He had faith in himself. He hurt no one without reason. He loved all except figs. He didn't protest funerals or start wars. He was a good guy.

The loophole of the No True Scotsman Fallacy is the definition of the word in the eyes of the person making the claim but if they're not thinking enough to find it then you deserve the win in the debate.

I'm bored.

So this is what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna write a story. Pretty much no structure or forethought.

Once upon a time there was a teenage boy named Cecil. He enjoyed eating pastries and meats but never mixed the two.  He enjoyed academics and the sport of malesneck. Since you are from the 21st century I'm going to have to explain how the sport goes.
The goal of the game is to "live". There is no actual death though. The game is played in a virtual world that involves some quantum teleportation and some other stuff that takes PhDs to understand.
Basically what you must do is grab 300 kg balls, jump, and drop it onto the other players from in the air. If you last the longest then you are declared the winner.
But that's beyond the current point. He did his schoolwork and then would go to the malesneck arcade and play until going home.
One autumn afternoon, Cecil was going through his normal daily routine. He had gone through school, done his homework, and went to the malesneck arcade. He was on his last drink of beer and poutine and was about to leave (That's a legal thing soon to come). It was his last game and he had been alive for the last two hours , eating during the two minute breaks.
The warning sign started blaring and he got back in the gyxer ( virtual reality machine). It was game time.
The game started. He jumped as high as he could, seeing five people. He had managed to hook an iron ball with his foot and whirled it at the players, knocking them down like dominos.Everyone's player HUDs showed the faces of the fallen and of Cecil. He let out a hearty laugh for all the new players to hear.
"I can't do this!", yelled one of the newcomers before rage quitting.
The shop was closing in ten minutes so there were few players.
"Six down, three  to go.", Cecil said. In the rubble of the postapocalyptic city, this map was perfect for Cecil. Every other player was on ground floor, in a triangle, back to back, teaming up together for the purpose of trying to defeat their town's legend and become legends themselves. Cecil was on the rooftops. He got to the building gap where the trio was.
The reason Cecil knew he could take the people by surprise is because when a person "dies" their bodies turn into an electric ball that attacks the nearest thing. Cecil plopped the ball on one person and the rest is history. He "lived" the longest in history.

And that's my whack at short stories. I quite like this idea. I might continue with it.

Here's the deal

So I've realized I'm not that irritated as a person. I don't have rants to pull out of my sleeves randomly but I do have stories.
Now most creative minds just have the automatic thought that with this blog they could post their stories but I'm dumb so I didn't think of that.
Fortunately, my witty thinking isn't just a neat trick for impressing people. At church tonight I was saying something and someone was like you should be a writer and an idea was born.
From now on I'll be putting whatever I want on here. One of those things is stories but I'll you're whatever I want to because all of the internet multibans are nonexistent.
So yeah.. That's what is going to happen.

My first post.

As soon as tumblr was started to get cool in the eyes of the major populus, I thought about making one. I didn't make an actual account but I did lurk around. Tumblr was plain awesome until I saw what caused me to leave. I realized I was an internet hipster.
Now I hate to say there are levels of the internet but that's a kind of true statement. 4Chan on top, followed by Reddit, which is pretty much above everything else. The way the internet works is a system of trickling down. As a Redditor everything I saw on tumblr I saw days or even weeks before on Reddit. That was an immediate turn away added to the helvetica statements on top of people having a good time and the keep scrolling if you worship satan stuff.
In the end this lead to me wanting a normal less irritating solution: A simple blog not a "tumblr" but a place for rants and my opinions. But that's all for now, I'm off to go eat some Sonic. It's only an hour long drive.

Fun fact: Mountain dew commonly has fans name their drinks. 4Chan commonly does raids of websites. If the voting wasn't called off people'd be drinking this
