Christianity versus Science

As time has come to pass and more "radical" theories for things have come up, science has become the "Devil's Magic" or some other enemy of Christianity. People believe that if the bible does not say it directly or there is a minor difference it cannot be. I recently heard the argument that, "The bible does not say there was a big bang exactly, so it cannot be." , this argument was crazy in my mind but I kept to myself. I'm pretty sure there are actually some people that still think the universe is geocentric and that we are rotated by the sun.

The thing people fail to realize is that Moses did not understand the rotation of the earth. He didn't understand the complex process of expansion. He didn't understand things and did not write what others could not understand. He was writing stories he was told in an understandable way. Genesis needed to be easy.

Another thing that blows my mind is people's nonacceptance of evolution. Even the most devout atheist could say one could arbitrarily select any point in the bible and add evolution. It's not that difficult. God made all animals on the sixth day. It was not the day we consider a day now but a, for lack of a better term, "god day". It was the eons upon eons that it took for the modern human to come about.

The final second to last thing in this rant is people's attempt to understand parts of science to refute other things. I'm not very articulate with what I'm try say but people try to say that evolution is just a theory. They lack the understanding that a theory is an explanation for observations. Of course you can easily be a creationist and say it's an explanation for observations but that's dumb. Think of all the evidence for it.

Lastly, there is overwhelming evidence. There is nothing wrong with faith but refuting evidence and logical conclusions an eight year old can make is terrible. We see bones in the ground. They look sort of like humans. They must have been our ancestors or something. This thinking is not crazy. It makes perfect sense. Adding that to the fact that there is so much evidence, things like this are completely dumb.

As I believe Richard Dawkins said, "Science is opening your eyes to the poetry of the expanding universe.". He didn't say science was the Devil's tools. He didn't say anything remotely close. Science is something that can easily compliment religion in general and should never be seen as an enemy.
